I know the display food is made of wax but I still wanna eat them

Perfect meal for a cold and wet Sunday afternoon. I somehow ended up in Chai Wan one day, hungry and unsure of where to find food. I found myself at the bottom floor of a mall, where most malls seem to have their food courts. It was a choice between Jika Udon and Ajisen Ramen, the two main noodle-soup chains I’ve seen so far in Hong Kong. I eat ramen way too often, so I figured I’d give Jika Udon a try. Also, I got sucked by the plastic displays they have out front. They just look so appetizing.

Spicy Pork Ramen: approximately $45 HKD

Spicy Pork Ramen – Approximately $45 HKD

I ordered the spicy pork udon. It wasn’t actually spicy, but this is Hong Kong, so all is forgiven. The meat tasted like pork stomach, and had strips of fat in it like bacon. The soup was quite tasty, which means it was loaded with fat and MSG. Not that I was complaining. It was a cold and wet day and this certainly hit the stop. I forgot to make not of the price of the noodles, but it was in the $45 HKD range, not a bad price.

Overall:

Jika Udon is at the same level of a Pho Hoa in terms of quality. It's a grade above fast food, but probably in the medium-to-low end when compared to other restaurants in it's calibre. You get a good bowl of udon at a reasonable price, but it won't knock your socks off. I'm not a huge fan of udon anyway, so I probably won't be craving this anytime soon. Final score: 0.
